A GOOD FIGHT - DETROIT RED WINGS V. ST. LOUIS BLUES

Half way into the first period at the Tuesday, March 3rd game, Detroit Red Wings forward Aaron Downey #44, dropped the gloves and exchanged more than few punches with St. Louis Blues forward Cam Janssen #55 (a former New Jersey Devils), in the St. Louis zone. Downey made his mark against the well-known tough guy Janssen. The fight lasted one and a half minutes with referees stoodby without any attempt to break up or try to seperate the players. At one point, both Downey and Janssen arms were down, almost waiting for the referees to jump in to stop the fight. Both players were exhausted from the fight and received a five minutes in the penalty box.
Downey had scratches on his knuckles from the fight and commented that his hands were pretty sore from throwing the punches.
