SAY IT AIN'T SO - CHRIS OSGOOD ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT

My all time favorite Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood announced his retirement after playing 17 seasons. I got to see Osgood "up close and personal" when he was with the St. Louis Blues for a brief 2 years.
Osgood won three Stanley Cups, 1997 and as starter in 1998 and 2008. Osgood was one of the 10th winningest goalie in the league.
Best wishes, Ozzie. Come out on the ice occassionally so we don't miss you too much :)

MIKE MODANO - CAREER GAME 1,487 - MARCH 12, 2011

On Saturday, March 12, 2011, Detroit Red Wings, Mike Modano, played in his 1,487th game, tying Wayne Gretzky for 15th on the NHL career list. The game was against the Blues in St. Louis and we were there :)
After a long career, 18+ years with the Dallas Stars, Modano signed a one-year contract with Detroit Red Wings. Michigan native son finally came home. On October 8, 2010, 5:35 of the first period of Detroit's 2010-2011 home opener, on just his second shift, Modano took a pass from Cleary and beat Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller for his first goal as a Red Wing. Wish I was there at the Joe!
"Hey TOTA, these photos are blurry. Something is wrong with your camera." you probably wonder. No, my camera is fine. I was just shaking with joy after waiting so long to see Modano as a Red Wing - haa haa

ADAM CRACKNELL - FIRST NHL GOAL

Congratulations to St. Louis Blues Right Winger Adam Cracknell, #79, on his first NHL goal. Cracknell scored in the 1st period during the game against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, March 12, 2011. (Being sportmanship, I will not hold it against Cracknell for scoring against my beloved Red Wings. Besides, the Wings won the game 5-3.)
The 25 years old Cracknell is from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada.

"DA CAPTAIN" LIDSTROM AT NHL ALL STAR

"The Red Wings’ captain will play the role of general manager that day, when he and Carolina’s Eric Staal take turns in a fantasy draft selecting from a pool of NHL All-Stars. When the teams are complete, they will skate under the names Team Lidstrom and Team Staal in the first NHL All-Star that will have the teams decided by the players. Lidstrom and Staal were selected to be the two captains in the first All-Star game with the new format by the players who will participate that weekend."
Congratulations to Nicklas Lidstrom #5 on being named captain at the 2011 NHL All Star game on Sunday, January 30th.
If it was up to me, it would be very simple -all the Detroit Red Wings players would be on the rosters - haa haa

JAKUB KINDL - FIRST NHL GOAL

Congratulations to Jakub Kindl #4 on his first NHL goal against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, January 20, 2011. The 23 years old defenseman, native of Czech Republic, scored his first NHL goal to give Detroit a 3-0 lead at 9:50 in the 2nd period.
The Red Wings blew the lead when the St. Louis Blues tied the game and sent it to overtime. The Wings won 4-3 in overtime with a goal from Darren Helm #43.
